Council say Blackshots project is moving forwards through consultation

By Nub News Reporter   20th Feb 2025

Thurrock Council is due to launch a review of the proposals for the redevelopment of the Blackshots estate in Grays.

Following engagement with local residents on the future of Blackshots, Thurrock Council agreed at a Full Council meeting on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, to commission a viability review by Avison Young which will look at new potential options for the Blackshots development footprint, and any alternative sites for redevelopment.

Avison Young are expected to report their findings by April 2025 and Thurrock Council have promised to engage local residents on the outcomes of the review.

Cllr Lee Watson, Cabinet member for Good Growth, said: "The redevelopment of the Blackshots estate will mean new and affordable good quality homes that meet the needs of our residents.

"It's vitally important our residents have a say in the future of the estate, and we've been actively engaging the local community to make sure we get this right.

"That's why I'm pleased we are due to commission Avison Young to conduct this review. And I look forward to working with residents on the future of Blackshots, once the findings have been shared with us."

More information on the Blackshots Estate redevelopment can be found on the Thurrock Council website.
