Council seeks to capture evidence on film and end tipping blight on Grays road
By Nub News Reporter 11th Mar 2026
THURROCK Council says it is taking a pro-active stance as it seeks to deal with regular fly-tipping on a residential road in Grays.
Over recent weeks dumping of what appears to be building wase has occurred regularly on Dell Road - sometimes in the middle of the road and also on its borders and hedgerows.
Residents say it has become a real menace, presenting danger to traffic and residents alike.
The council, which is obligated to clear up the dumped material as it is in a public place, was contacted by Thurrock Nub News and has pledged to take steps to deter future tipping.

A statement says: "Officers are aware of the issues in Dell Road and are in touch with residents as we look into possible ways to monitor the area and capture footage of fly-tippers which will help the council prosecute those responsible.
"Fly-tipping is a selfish and disgusting crime that causes blight in the borough and impacts the lives of residents living in the areas targeted by fly-tippers.
"In many cases waste is dumped on a commercial scale by criminal gangs running rogue waste clearance operations.
"In part Thurrock is a victim of these gangs because of the borough's proximity to London and the M25.
"Officers investigate all fly-tips and if evidence is found to identify whose waste it is, fines are issued. We would urge anyone who sees fly-tipping taking place to report it to Essex Police. If anyone sees fly-tipped waste it should be reported to the council through the website.
