RESIDENTS in the east of the borough may soon be able to benefit from a new 'quiet garden' which Thurrock Council has agreed to create thanks to the lobbying of a local councillor.

Cllr Shane Ralph, who represents the Stanford East and Corringham Town ward has announced that the authority has agreed to convert an open space into a sheltered garden.

He says: "It's taken some time but finally permission has been to create a quite garden in the locked area of land by the Manorway off the Sorrels in Corrringham.

"The garden will be targeted at over 50s and I believe it will be a great asset to boost mental health in our area.

"We are aware that this land backs onto gardens and that is why it will be a quiet garden and just a place to visit and relax. The gate will open in the morning and will be locked in the late afternoon.

"If you are interested in getting involved in the creation of this space, please contact me.
