THURROCK councillors will continue to receive an allowance of £9,200 a year for their basic duties, with members who take on special responsibilities getting paid additional amounts depending on their role.
Council leader Rob Gledhill, for example, will be paid a total of £41,400 a year while a cabinet member gets £21,700.
This week's meeting of the full council will hear a report from a panel set up to look at allowances which says they should remain at their current level, though they have rounded the Thurrock allowance from £9,202 by two pounds to create parity with neighbouring Southend Council.
