TWO councillors took to the streets and alleys of Tilbury today (Sunday, 5 January) in a bid to tidy up the town.

Cllr Allen Mayes joined Cllr John Allen who came up with the idea and said: "We did a spot of litter picking this morning and collected five bags full.

"It isn't perfect but looks a bit better now.

"We will be doing more litter picks over the coming weeks/months. Whoever wants to help, please let us know."
