A LORRY and car collision near the exit point of the Dartford tunnels caused considerable traffic congestion and delays for motorists this morning.

The accident happened on the anti-clockwise section of the M25 approaching the junction with the A1306 (Lakeside/Purfleet).

Initially all anti-clockwise lanes were blocked and congestion built up back through the tunnels.

One lane was then opened, but periodically traffic was held on the tunnel approach to ensure limited queuing within the tunnels.

Update: It was reported that all lanes were reopened shortly before 10.30am.
