ESSEX Fire and Rescue have spent the night fighting a fire at an industrial site in Chadwell St Mary.

The blaze broke out at the site on St John's Road just after midnight (Monday 3 August) and when crews arrived at the scene they reported that a number of vehicles (including cars, lorries and diggers) plus a portable cabin was alight in the yard of the industrial area.

At the height of the incident seven crews from across Thurrock and Basildon were at the site.

They had the fire under control by 3am and reported it was out by 3.45am were able to reduce the number of crews.

As dawn broke they continued to monitor the area and ensure the effected area was completely cool. Fire crews worked to find and extinguish all remaining hot spots.

An investigation will be carried to establish how the fire started.
