THE Port of Tilbury's London Cruise Terminal hosted the annual Martine Memorial Service this evening.

Dignitaries, including borough Mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick, were on hand for the service.

Tilbury Band provided the music on a sombre evening as workers from the Port of London Authority and the docks along the Thames who lost their lives on active service or were victims as they worked in the capital.

The service was the last in a series across the borough that began in Purfleet at the beginning of the month.

Traditionally the borough commemorations end with a service at Coalhouse Fort at the end of the month but it is currently closed by Thurrock Council and in a state of disrepair.
