THE dad of the young woman injured in an an incident involving a bus in Grays yesterday (Wednesday, 2 February) has thanked the many wellwishers who have passed on messages of support.

Former firefighter Mike Jones, who is well known in the Grays community - not least for his many roles within drama group Thurrock Courts Players and his work on community radio - spoke as his daughter Amy recovers in a London Hospital after being in collision with a bus on Clarence Road.

He says: "Amy is now in London Hospital Whitechapel. She has a few broken bones and will need a lot of stitches but she has survived a major trauma and is waiting for consultation with the facial injuries team.

"Three bones broken in her back but only one of concern. All movement is ok.

"I'm with her and hopefully she will have small surgery operation soon. Thank you for all your kind messages and all the support."
