A DECISION could finally be made tonight on the planning application to build a new block of 32 flats in the heart of Stanford-le-Hope.

At last month's meeting councillors were poised to reject the application on a number of grounds but in the end decided to give the developers the chance to amend their proposal and, among contentious issues, offer free parking to shoppers in the town centre.

The developers have come back with an offer of three hours free parking.

And they have responded to other issues, including a contribution to health care in the area, which officers recommend are sufficient for the scheme to be approved. They also say the development will not have a negative impact on the look of the town centre and, in particular, on St Margaret's Church.

The full response of the developers can be read via this link

Thurrock Nub News will be reporting from the meeting this evening and will bring you the outcome tonight.
