MORE than 150 local people attended a recent presentation by developers hoping to build more homes in the green belt surrounding East Tilbury.

Plans for a development, the latest in a series around the borders of East Tilbury and Linford, have been aired by developers Summix and Keepmoat, who wish to build on land east of Gobions Park in the village.

details remain scarce about the project and no formal application has been submitted.

Devel;opers say they are keen to react positively following the feedback received when they mounted a presentation on the site on Monday, 22 July.

And they have asked for more feedback before planms are prepared. The two companies say alongside extensive new green spaces, the proposals will include a range of new market and affordable homes.

An interactive online map has also launched, giving members of the community who couldn't attend the event the opportunity to still have their say on the forthcoming proposals. It can be accessed via this link.

Summix and Keepmoat say their project team will gather all feedback received from the event and the online submissions to help inform the plans, which will be 'subject to extensive technical and design work, alongside engagement with statutory bodies prior to the submission of a planning application'.

A spokesperson for Summix said: "We would like to thank everyone who attended the event and all those who have taken the time to provide us with their feedback so far. The comments gathered through the consultation events and online mapping will play a key role in shaping our plans for the site and local area."

"We are looking forward to providing the new homes, and amenities East Tilbury needs, which respond sensitively to the community feedback received."

"Plans are at a very early stage, and we are keen to continue to obtain the views of the local community before developing and presenting more detailed proposals through further public engagement before we submit our planning application."

Planning permission has already been granted for a controversial 230 home housing estate in Linford - on land known as Gothards Field to the rear and east of the George and Dragon pub.

Plans have also been submitted for up to 1,000 homes which will be subject to a planning inspectorate hearing later this year, though the proposal was recently rejected by Thurock Council.
