Motorbike rider seriously injured in morning crash on Dock Road

A MOTORBIKE rider was injured in a crash which briefly closed the A1089 Dock approach road this morning (Wednesday, 28 April).

It happened just after 8am but was reopened in both directions to and from Tilbury by 10am after emergency services including the Essex and Herts air ambulance completed their work.

A statement from police says: "We were called shortly after 8am with reports a motorcyclist had fallen from their bike on the A1089 in Tilbury.

"No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

"The road was closed while the rider was treated by paramedics and the air ambulance landed.

"The 19-year-old man was taken to hospital. His injuries were described as serious but not believed to be life threatening.

"Witnesses are asked to contact us quoting incident 178 of today's date.

"They can visit our website to use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm. Alternatively, they can call 101."

A statement from the ambulance service said: "I can confirm that EEAST responded to an emergency call shortly after 8am regarding an incident on the Dock Approach Road, A1089.

"We sent an ambulance, two rapid response cars and an Essex and Herts Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

"One patient was transported to the Royal London Hospital for further care."
