Duo sleep ran their way to a world record

LOCAL youngsters Jasmine Cordell and Olivia Scofield suited up in their finest sleepwear this weekend to secure their places in the history books.
Taking part in the iconic Vitality Westminster Mile, the dynamic duo donned their pyjamas to help set a brand-new Guinness World Record for the most people dressed in pyjamas to run a mile.
The record-breaking wave saw hundreds of runners take to The Mall clad in sleepwear, winding around St James's Park and finishing triumphantly in front of Buckingham Palace.

Under strict Guinness World Record rules, participants had to wear a matching set of long-sleeved and full-length pyjamas for the entire course. The little local legends completed the run side-by-side, cementing their status as official world record-holders and proving that high-energy racing and peak comfort go hand-in-hand.
At points it was touch and go, whether Jasmine's little legs would get her around the course. But, with support from Olivia and Jasmine's back-up team, they all managed to cross that finish line together and triumphantly collect their well-deserved medals!
Organised by London Marathon Events, the Vitality Westminster Mile is famous for its festive atmosphere and record attempts. With this year's pyjama run officially wrapped, Jasmine and Olivia return home with medals around their necks, certificates in hand, and a fantastic story to tell.

Jasmine's mum Lucy, who is also Olivia's aunt, is a member of staff at Stanford-le-Hope Arthur Bugler School and Saturday's (26 September) event brought back memories of the school's efforts earlier this year when a team ran in the TCS Mini London Marathon, raising more than £5,200 for the school's PTA.
