THE search is on to find two women with a musical past who may yet be destined for fame and fortune following discovery of a historic demo tape.

The tapes were discovered by Ryan Hooper of independent record label East London Recordings, in a Grays charity shop.

He explains: "I run an independent record label that specialises in releasing physical media.

"From time to time we buy our stock second hand. But we listen to the contents to ensure we are not wiping a historical or lost piece of media. While buying tape stock, we came across a demo tape of two ladies singing 'Fame' and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'.

"They are Kathryn and Zoe and recorded under the name Magdalene.

"We have since digitised the recording and preserved it, but we would love to know who these ladies are? Are they still making music together? Are they still friends? Do they know that this demo tape landed on the CEO's desk of an indie label? Who was the demo tape actually for? And lastly … What are they up to now?

"We would love to make contact with them. If you know the ladies personally and see this post please can you tell them – 'We have finally gotten through our demo submissions and have come across this wonderful demo tape! It's a yes from us'!"
