ALL across Thurrock and South Essex this evening ordinary people turned out to pay tribute to the heroes of the NHS who are fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Thurrock Nub News broadcast live from Basildon and Thurrock Hospital where police, firefighters and other emergency staff joined the general public outside the main entrance to express their gratitude. Watch the broadcast here.

The moment was especially poignant for members of the ambulance service, who have a local colleague inside the hospital fighting for his life after contracting the virus!

But it din't matter where you were this evening, at 8pm it was hard not to hear the cheers, clapping, car horns and hooters. In Linford residents even had a Harley Davidson motorcyclist Clive Riches flying the flag as they cheered. See video here.

And there were great scenes view here outside Thurrock Community Hospital on Long Lane in Stifford Clays.

Earlier in the day the second Thurrock Council tribute to the NHS was created on roads outside Orsett Hospital, produced free of charge by contractors Henderson & Taylor.
