Emergency services will be on the ball with new year fundraiser for chosen charities

By Neil Speight 2nd Dec 2021

A CHARITY football match is being planned in the borough for next year to raise funds for charities supported by local firefighters and ambulance service staff.

Teams representing the two emergency services will play a match at East Thurrock United's Rookery Hill ground on Wednesday, 2 February, kicking off at 7pm.

All proceeds will go to the Firefighters Charity and the Ambulance Staff Charity.

Event organisers Joanne Elias and Bradley Austen are hoping to get sponsorship from local companies via advertising in the match programme and they are also looking for donations of prizes for a raffle to be held on the evening.

Donations of prizes already received include tickets for a visit to the Shard, 2 tickets for the shard, family tickets for Rayleigh mega center, family tickets for Walton Hall Farm, beauty vouchers, a£50 Lakeside gift card, a Morrison's hamper and a round of golf at Langdon Hills, and more coming in each day.

Flava Dave will be providing food at the event with a buffet including curries.

You can get in touch if you can help via the event's Facebook page.
