IN a somewhat stark contrast to it's motto that reads 'The dreams start here, your adventures are endless', Partyman World of Play has pulled the plug on its venue at Lakeside, which will close its doors for the last time this weekend.

It's the end of an era inspired by entrepreneur and multi-business entertainment guru James 'Jimbo' Sinclair, who started his working life as a children's entertainer in Thurrock and built an array of businesses that now generates £40 million per year.

After forging a successful career as clown and magician 'Jimbo' in Thurrock, East London-born Mr Sinclair formed his own talent agency, and then built a business which includes leisure, childcare, outdoor attractions, commercial property, and arts and crafts manufacturing.

In 2007 Mr Sinclair opened Partyman World of Play in Basildon and he followed it up two years later by replicating it at Lakeside.

Now, just shy of a 20^th anniversary in the borough, the venue is to close because it is deemed unviable due to escalating costs.

Partyman World announced the closure on its website where it says: "Thank you to all the families who have visited us over the years. Your support, smiles, and memories have meant a great deal to our team.

"Partyman World of Play Lakeside will be closing its doors on the evening of Sunday, 13 September. Sadly, due to ever-increasing overhead costs, it is no longer financially viable for us to remain open.

"All memberships and direct debits will be automatically terminated; however, customers have the opportunity to transfer their membership to the nearest branch in Upminster.

"Vouchers and raffle prizes will remain valid until September 13, and unredeemed vouchers can be utilized at other Partyman World locations following the closure."
