SEVERAL hundred homes in the West Thurrock were without power this morning (Monday, 28 August) following an underground cable fault that began just before 11am.

However, by noon all but three of the 568 properties had service restored.

A UK Power Network spokesperson said: "The issue was a underground cable fault that initially interrupted power to 568 properties.

"Engineers from our control room managed to divert power back to some properties, so 228 properties were left affected.

"We would thank residents for their patience while our engineers investigated the fault on the underground network."
