THE Tilbury ferry service was suspended late this afternoon because of a strong easterly wind and a strong ebb tide and in the end the decision was taken to call off all further services for the dat.

A statement from Jetstream, who run the ferry, said: "Sadly we have not seen any improvement in the conditions and so we are making the final decision not to run for the remainder of today's service.

"We apologise for this inconvenience but we must put safety first."

You can keep in touch with updates on the ferry service via this link.
