THIRTY-NINE finalists, from more than 140 nominations made across eight award categories, have been shortlisted and revealed for the Thurrock Civic Awards 2020.

Cllr Deb Huelin, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: "The Civic Awards are a wonderful way to recognise the borough's stars who go above and beyond to help our communities. The awards acknowledge those who have made a special contribution to our borough with categories including: creative, healthy living, environmental, sports and young achiever.

"With more than 140 nominations received recognising some truly inspiring work, there is much to celebrate across Thurrock. The judging panel commented that the standard of nominations this year has been extremely high and some categories were difficult to get down to a final shortlist. Thank you to all those who took the time and effort to nominate.

"Congratulations and good luck to all of this year's finalists, I look forward to celebrating with you at the awards ceremony."

The fully sponsored event, with main sponsors being the council's investment partner Rockfire Capital Ltd, will be held on Friday 28 February 2020 at The Civic Hall and will be hosted by Danny Crates, Orsett-born, former Paralympic European and World Champion.
