AN upcoming information event will offer members of the borough community the opportunity to find out about adopting a child or young person in Thurrock.

Taking place on Monday, 27 January at the Orsett Hall Hotel, the evening session will bring together social workers from the service to speak to those who may be interested in adoption.

The team will be able to answer any questions and talk through the process of adoption and what's involved. The free event will take place between 6:30pm and 8:30pm with a short presentation and light refreshments available.

Cllr Sue Little, Portfolio Holder for Social Care, said: "Adoption is a great opportunity to officially welcome a child or young person, who cannot be brought up by their own parents, into your home and into your life.

"I am sure there are families in our borough and the immediate surrounding area, who could offer a warm family environment for some of our children, and provide them with love and support to enable them to lead a healthy, positive life. You do not have to live in Thurrock to adopt with us."

"I would like to welcome people from all backgrounds who think they could offer stability to a young person to come along to our upcoming event and find out more about adoption."
