Fire at rear of shop that is being renovated

FIRE, police and ambulance officers attended a blaze in South Ockendon last night (Friday, 1 May).
The alarm was raised following discovery of the fire in the yard behind a former African food store on Aire Drive.
It is believed it started among discarded building materials.
The shop is in a very densely populated area with occupied flats above and to the side of it, hence the emergency turn out.
Firefighters quickly dealt with the incident.
