FIREFIGHTERS have spent this evening (Friday, 17 July) battling a blaze between Linford and Chadwell St Marys.

It is close to the Tollpits Fishery, a ten acre carp fishing venue.

It is believed the fire was started by an abandoned vehicle being set alight.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue says: "Firefighters were called to Linford Road at 6.26pm. Or arrival, crews confirmed it was one land rover that had been set alight deliberately which was spreading to the fields. The team used beaters, blowers and backpack sprayers to extinguish the fire by 7.23pm."
