Fire station open day promises to be a feast of fun
A DAY of fun, laughter and some learning about fire safety is promised at Grays Fire Station on Hogg Lane over the wekend.
It will take place on Sunday, 4 September from 10am to 4pm and there will be a wide range of things to do - most of them involving children who will be invited take part in events like 'Dunk The Foreman', 'Parachute a Teddy' and tackle a giant buzz game.
There will be demonstrations includign kitchen safety and hows an emergency team reacts when they need to cut a car part following a crash.
Gary Bannister, manager of Blue Watch will be hosting the day, said: "We are really looking forward to putting on an exciting and fun event for everyone this summer.
"It has been three years since we were last able to invite the public to our station to join us in a fun, family day, to bring the community together while raising funds for Charities, including the Firefighters Charity.
"We will have demonstrations including ladders and vehicle extrication. There will be fire engines and special vehicles and visitors from all over the brigade.
"We will have lots of fun games and challenges, with prizes for winners and a raffle. Plus much more!
"Entry will be free and all activities will be suitable for children and adults (or adults pretending to be children!).
"So please come down and meet our firefighters and have a great day!"
Food and drink, including bar will be available.
