ESSEX Fire and Rescue Service have announced that Orsett Fire Station, which has been closed since a fire in the building in July last year, will be reopening at the end of next month.

That will be more than a year since the blaze on Thursday, 13 July 2023 when one of the appliances burst into flames. The fire was captured on film in a Nub News report.

Crews have been working from Grays Fire Station sincelast summer while an extensive refurbishment of the station has taken place.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue says: "This has not had an effect on the service we provide to our communities.

"We have taken the opportunity to refurbish the station so we can provide a better facilities for our people and the local community.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the community again soon."
