Five arrested after Tilbury burglary

OFFICERS investigating a reported attempted burglary in Tilbury made five arrests within 20 minutes of the call being made.

A statement from essex Police says: "We were called to reports of a group behaving suspiciously outside an address in Coronation Avenue, Tilbury, shortly after 3.50am on Friday, 8 September.

"Our officers were on the scene within ten minutes, speaking with witnesses at the scene and quickly taking accounts from neighbours and reviewing CCTV footage.

"After speaking to one resident, officers established a group of males had attempted to force entry to a vacant neighbouring property.

"By 4.08 am officers arrested five males found inside a nearby car, also recovering a baseball bat from the vehicle.

"Five men, a 33-year-old, a 30-year-old, a 23-year-old, a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old, all from London, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

"They remain in custody for questioning."
