Fly-tippers slammed over massive rural road dump
By Nub News Reporter 26th Oct 2026
THURROCK Council's environmental services team had the big job of clearing away the latest dangerous incident of fly-tipping on a local rural road over the weekend.
Coopers Shaw Road, close to West Tilbury village and linking Tilbury and East Tilbury, has become a notorious dumping ground because of its quiet location.
The adjacent Gunn Hill and Fort Road are also used by fly-tippers who are operating on a commercial scale.
Tilbury councillor Bailey Scott was shocked by the magnitude of the latest incident, saying: "I am absolutely appalled by the sheer scale of fly-tipping along Coopers Shaw Road this weekend.

"This is completely unacceptable and shows a total disregard for our local environment, residents and the safety of motorists.
"This is not just an eyesore, but a serious danger to road users. Those responsible must be identified and held accountable.
"Thurrock is not a dumping ground, and I urge anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has dash-cam footage to contact the police or council with any information that could help identify those responsible."
