Footballers' fan-tash-tic effort

EAST Thurrock United may not have had a match yesterday - their scheduled opponents were otherwise engaged in the FA Cup - but the players were still celebrating.

The Rocks squad took part in the Movember challenge, to grow a moustache and get sponsored.

The club effort was organised by goalkeeper Jack Giddens, pictured, and the players' efforts raised £1,131 towards awareness of men's health issues, such as anxiety issues, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

A club spokesperson said: "Thanks to everyone who contributed, not just people at the Rocks, but also those from the wider football community. A special heads-up to Jack Giddens."

The keeper himself took to social media to say: "Proud of the East Thurrock boys who stuck with the tash all month long. C u next year - God Bless"
