PERMISSION has been granted to turn two former police houses in South Ockendon into houses of multiple occupation.

Thurrock Council planning officers gave approval to an application to convert the semi-detached homes, that had been converted into offices, back to residential use.

Each of the homes would cater for five occupants.

How the rooms will be laid out.

Reservations about the proposal were expressed by Essex Police who had significant concerns regarding the proposed HMOs and the suitability of a development of this nature.

However, those concerns were set aside by officers who backed their own report and approved the plan.
