Freight train fire tackled near Mucking crossing

A FREIGHT train fire was tackled by crews this morning close to the village of Mucking.

There was a significant response from emergency services when the alarm was raised in the late morning but fire crews reported the fire had been extinguished by the time they arrived.

"It was a small fire that had been dealt with but crews have been checking the rest of the train."

The incident caused disruption to passenger services on the c2c line with some services cancelled while it was dealt with.
