FUEL protesters from the JustStopOil group have targeted Thurrock for a second morning and have blocked acces to the petrol station at Thurrock Moto services at the M25 junction.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 23 August) they caused significant disruption across West Thurrock when they targeted fuel terminals.

The early morning protest in Thurrock.

This morning, around 5am, they turned up and formed human barricades on the access to fuel pumps at the services. Fuel supplies are currently not available to motorists as police manage the situation.

Other reports have been received that similar protests are taking place at Cobham in Surrey, where Surrey Police have reported nine arrests have been made, and Clacket Lane services (east and westbound) in Kent.

It is reported some campaigners damaged petrol pumps by breaking the display glass, covering them with spray paint or locking on.

A spokesperson for the group said: "The supporters of JustStopOil will continue the disruption until the government makes a statement that it will end new oil and gas projects in the UK."

And the group used social media to say: "Oil will continue to be disrupted until there is a meaningful statement from 10 Downing Street. Across the world people are using civil disobedience to make change. Will you join us?"
