AMBULANCE staff and firefighters came togather today (Sunday, 10 July) to fundraise for Haven Hospice and bring a smile many local faces.

Ofgf duty staff came in to the ambulance station on Hogg Lane, Grays, to take part in a day long car wash, which also featured a tombola and facepainting.

The event was inspired by the lost of a colleague recently who was cared for by the hospice and throughout the day there were streams of cars taking part as the crews were kept busy.

Visitors could also take the opportunity to visit the recently created garden and mural at the ambulance station which pays tribute to Neil Ruch, a much loved and respected ambulance service staff member who lost his life to covid in May 2020.
