Fund will help borough residents move towards a healthier lifestyle
COMMUNITIES in Thurrock have been invited to apply for funding to help make sure that everyone has an opportunity to lead a healthy life.
Funding has been secured through Mid-South Essex NHS which is available for community-led initiatives that help tackle health inequalities.
The £30,000 fund will provide grants of between £500 and £1,500 for voluntary sector-led schemes that address issues which prevent communities from getting and staying healthy.
Additional funding is also available through the £42,000 Tilbury and Chadwell Primary Care Network (PCN) U Choose scheme, offering grants of up to £6,000 for schemes in the Chadwell St Mary, East Tilbury and Tilbury area.
Cllr George Coxshall, cabinet member for health, adult social care, community and public protection, said: "We want to make sure that every resident of Thurrock has access to a healthy life by tackling the barriers that create health inequalities.
"This fund will help voluntary and community led groups develop the grassroots schemes that can often create huge positive change in people's lives."
