THURROCK planning officers have rejected two bids for new homes on 'infill' ploys adjacent to existing houses.

They have refused an application for a two storey, three bedroom dwelling to be located upon the end of an existing semi-detached pair of properties at 31 Elmway, Stifford Clays, Grays.

Among reasons for refusal officers say the new building would be 'a visually incongruous feature to the detriment of the street scene which is characterised by semi-detached dwellings'.

And a bid for a new three bedroom home created by demolishing a garage and building of a back garden at 261 Rectory Road, Grays, has also been rejected.

Officers say the new detached home would result in 'an overbearing impact upon the appearance of the street scene and openness of the area'.
