A THURROCK man will be among a team aiming to set a new world record tomorrow (Saturday, 4 December).

Graham Twigg from Corringham is a member of a team of 15 trying to set a new static cycling record.

They will be riding for 29 hours in support of four charities MIND, Copperfeel, The Mintridge Foundation and NHS Charities Together.

The effort is the brainchild of Graham's friend Jackie Scully who was determined to turn her 40th birthday into a big opportunity to raise money and awareness for the charities. amazing charities.

Tomorrow, on her birthday she and a team of 14 other challengers including Graham will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest static cycling class in the world. The record stands at 28 hours.

40 is a birthday Jackie thought she would see, after being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 32. She has overcome that and now attempting huge endurance challenges makes her feel alive, particularly after having her hip rebuilt in her 20s.

Graham said: "We've all been training hard for months. It's probably the toughest challenge both physically and mentally that I've taken on.

"I met Jackie just under five years ago through a charity we both support. Jackie will be 40 on the day of the challenge, an age she never thought she'd reach. She has a very inspirational story and I'm so proud to be part of this challenge."
