A CONVICTED rapist from Grays could end up serving more time behind bars after it was confirmed his ten year jail sentence is to be reviewed.

Olawale Hassan, 33, of Falcon Avenue, attacked his victim in Southend in 2017 after claiming he was a music producer. Hassan, also known as rapper Goldie 1, was jailed for ten years and two months last year after being found guilty of three counts of rape and one charge of assault by penetration.

The trial was reported on Thurrock Nub News here.

Today (Monday, 1 February) it has been confirmed the Attorney General has referred the case of Hassan to the Court of Appeal.

Following his sentence, his victim described Hassan as "evil and delusional" and praised police for helping her throughout the criminal proceedings.
