A GOOD cause has been boosted thanks to a group of knitters and regulars and staff at Grays Wharf pub and local residents in Grays and Tilbury.

The Needles and Chat group, which is involved in promoting knitting and also bring like-finded friendly people together, organised the sale of cream eggs and specially knitted chicks at Easter, with all proceeds going to Essex Deaf Children's Society.

Organiser Susan Burns says: "I would like to thank everyone who supported our Easter knitted chicks. Everyone which was sold helped us to raise £831 for the charity.

"I would like to thank local business which supported us, particualtly by donating eggs. These include Cliff and Olivia at the Wharf pub, also Jimmy and Gurgit at the Little Thurrock Post office and community champions at Kim (Asda), Tarnya (Morrisons) Angela (Tesco) and Claire (Co-op).
