THURROCK'S Nelapese community will again be celebrating their history at an event at Purfleet Heritage Centre this coming weekend.

It will take place at the centre, which is housed in a former gunpowder magazine on Centurion Way and also marks the 207th anniversary of the Gurkha Rifles.

An exhibition about the Gurkhas is one of many within the museum, which will host the event on Sunday (24 April) from 10am to 2pm.

Local dignitaries will also be visiting.
