Hall plays host to final meeting

By Neil Speight 9th May 2022

THE past weekend saw the final meeting at Stanford-le-Hope's Salvation Army Hall which has been closed by the national organisation.

The Stanford Corps is now run jointly with Wickford.

Among the visitors to the final event was well-known Sharon King, who served for four years with the Stanford Community.

Describing the final valedictory meeting on Saturday she says: "It was quite an emotional day. I spent four years in this community and many different things were achieved including Holiday at Home and Messy Church to name but two.

"Although it was sad, it was good to see many people that I have got to know over the years. "It was also good to have the opportunity to speak with the shop keepers in the shop next door to the hall, and had chance to pop in and see many friends connected with the corps.

"I pray that they will soon find a new spiritual home and a place to worship.

"Who knows what has been achieved by God through this corps over the many years, but I give to Jesus Glory for the Salvation Army's ministry in this community and surrounding areas."
