Hardie Park in Stanford-le-Hope says farewell - for now

By Neil Speight 20th Mar 2020

THE Friends of Hardie Park in Stanford-le-Hope have sent an emotional farewell message to customers after being forced to close their community cafe following PM Boris Johnson's announcement this afternoon.

Staff and volunteers at the cafe had hoped to see the coronavirus through as a haven for the elderly and vulnerable in the local community and had brought in specialist cleaning equipment.

But the Hardie Park Trustees, staff and volunteers were forced to announce: "It is with regret we inform you that Hardie Park Cafe closed at 4pm today (Friday, 20 March)

"This action has been taken in the interest of health & safety for our staff, volunteers and customers following government advice and guidelines regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

"The Old Spokes Home, Hardie Cycle Hub will remain open at the present time.

"Thank you for your continued support in these challenging times. We will endeavour to answer any contact/ feedback sent via our websitewithin 72 hours.

"We are looking forward to sending the email that says, all is well and our doors are open once again for our amazing community.

"Stay safe everyone!"
