Hat-trick of happy events rounded off a year to remember for Re-engage

By Nub News Reporter 26th Dec 2024

VOLUNTEERS and guests that make up Thurrock's Re-engage branch had a busy run-up to Christmas with three events.

The charity, which organises events for the region's elderly, vulnerable and lonely population, has expressed thanks at year end to all those businesses, individuals and organisations that have supported it during the year.

One of the last events before Christmas was a visit to the Vintage tea Rooms in Grays where a 'fabulous' afternoon tea was enjoyed by all.

Regional co-ordinator Loraine Coleman said: "Thank you so, so much to Wendy and her team for giving Re-engage Thurrock such a warm welcome and for treating our guests to a fabulous festive tea. What a perfect way to start celebrating Christmas.

"There were lots of very happy, smiling faces. Thank you Maggie for organising and thank you to our lovely volunteers for driving."

Thurrock volunteers recently took part in an annual festive event, joining the Rotary Club of Mardyke Valley and Santa visiting Kenningtons Estate.

Loraine says: "There were such excited, happy faces of children seeing Santa. This year we were joined by Jen Craft, MP for Thurrock. Thank you to all the Kenningtons residents for your very generous donations to local charities."

And re-engage also teamed up with Mar Dyke Rotary when guests were treated to fish and chips.

Loraine said: "A very big thank you to the Rotary Club of Mar Dyke Valley for hosting lunch for Re-engage Thurrock guests and volunteers. The fish and chips were delicious followed by a festive sing a long. What a wonderful start to Christmas.

"Thank you so, so much to the Rotary Club members and their wives for their continued generosity. Happy birthday to Maureen. Thank you to Maggie for organising and thank to our lovely volunteers for looking after our guests.

"Thank-you to everyone who has supported Re-engage during 2024 and we are looking forward to more of the same in 2025."
