THURROCK is set to play host an Indian celebratory event.

Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the arrival of spring, love, and new life. It's also known as the "festival of colors" and it will be celebrated by Thurrock's Indian community at an event at the Scouts Hall on Tamarisk Road, South Ockendon, on Saturday, 15 March.

It an event that is open to all and will involve singing and dancing, participants throwing colored powder and water at each other and eating festival delicacies like gujiya, a dumpling-like sweet, and other authentic Indian street food

People also light bonfires on the night before Holi to say goodbye to winter.

There will be live Dhol Music and a DJ playing mixed holi themed Bollywood hits and modern fusion music.

Tickets for the event can be booked via this link.
