FILM crews have been in operation in Thurrock over the past two days working on a new potential blockbuster featuring Oscar-nominated Cynthia Erivo, star of the recently released Wicked movie.

The production company behind new film 'Prima Facie' has been filming in three locations across the borough, based at the Grays Beach car park park, which was closed for their use by Thurrock Council.

They have filmed in Grays, outside Tilbury Town train station and on the esplanade by Tilbury Fort, near The World's End pub.

They applied for and were given filming permission by the council for filming and use of the car park (both of which they have paid a fee).

The film is a big-screen adaptation of award-winning one-woman play Prima Facie.

Cynthia Erivo has taken on the lead role that Jodie Comer played in the West End before transferring to Broadway.

An official statement from Thurrock Council said: "We can't say a great deal, or go into any real detail, but it is for filming which is also taking place at two other locations across the borough today.

"The film crew are only here for one day and were given all of the appropriate permissions for filming and use of Grays Beach car park."
