House fire in Corringham

FIREFIGHTERS are currently on scene (Monday, 28 September) in Corringham where the upper floor of a home was ablaze.

Crews have doused the flames at the home on Central Avenue. Firefighters entered the home using breathing apparatus.

The alarm was raised around 9am when the occupant and children were absent on a 'school run'.

There are no reported casualties.

At 10.30am a statement from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews have just extinguished a fire in on the first floor of a semi detached house on Central Avenue. No one was injured.

"A fire investigation will be carried out soon to determine the cause."
