FIREFIGHTERS are currently on scene (Monday, 28 September) in Corringham where the upper floor of a home was ablaze.

Crews have doused the flames at the home on Central Avenue. Firefighters entered the home using breathing apparatus.

The alarm was raised around 9am when children and their father were absent on a 'school run', while mum had gone to work.

There are no reported casualties.

The householders were consoled and offered support from neighbours in the immediate aftermath of this morning's fire.

At 10.30am a statement from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews have just extinguished a fire in on the first floor of a semi detached house on Central Avenue. No one was injured.

"A fire investigation will be carried out soon to determine the cause."
