A CELEBRATION event to mark the reopening of the offices of Tilbury charity One Community featured a speech from local community stalwart Kim Morgan, who was representing the Asda Foundation which made a substantial donation allowing its refurbishment to happen.

One Community Development Trust is a grassroots community charity based at 134 Dock Road in the town, dedicated to improving the lives of residents across Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary.

The charity was acknowledged nationally, winning the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2018 and receiving awards from Locality and the Avocado Foundation for transforming lives and championing marginalised communities.

The Asda Foundation chequed in last year.

News of the grant from the Asda Foundation came in October last year and the work has now been completed.

A spokesperson for One Community said: "To celebrate our Grand Reopening, we invited some very special guests to join us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and one of them was Tilbury Asda community champion Kim Morgan, representing the Asda Foundation. What an honour to have her with us!

"Together with the Clothworkers Foundation , the Asda Foundation was one of the generous funders who supported One Community in making our refurbishment possible. We are incredibly grateful for their support and for helping us create an even better space for our community."
