THE inaugural Grays 10K took place today (Sunday, 7 September) when more than 160 runners took part.

The run was the main event of a fun day at Kilverts Field on the Thames riverside which featured a number of stalls offering food, items to buy and information from a range of organisations including Thurrock's RNLI fundraisers.

The adjacent Thurrock Yacht Club opened its doors to visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the Thames from its terrace and bar.

A 3K fun run was also part of the day's attractions, with trophies for the leading runners in both events.

The event was put together by a team of volunteers, led by Meena Mitra, with support and funding from Grays Riverside Community Big Local and Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions and other organisations.
