INQUESTS were opened today following the unexpected deaths of two borough residents last month.
At Seax House in Chelmsford, Essex Coroner Michelle Brown opened and adjourned a hearing into the death of 52-year-old Sally Marie Goss, of Balmoral Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope.
Her death occurred on Monday, 15 December and prompted a police investigation.
Yesterday, ahead of the inquest opening, Essex Police issued the following statement: "We were called to Balmoral Avenue following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
"Sadly, she was found deceased.
"Her death is not being treated as suspicious, following initial police enquiries, and a man who was arrested in connection with our enquiries will face no further action.
"A file will now be prepared for the coroner. Our thoughts remain with the woman's family at this difficult time."
Today's hearing was told that Ms Goss was discovered in the bathroom of her home with no signs of life after losing a large volume of blood. The cause of death was given as Hypovolaemic shock.
The other inquest opened today, and then also adjourned, was of Richard Watkins of Grays who died at his home on Sunday, 14 December, aged 39.
The coroner reported Mr Watkins was found in his home, with the cause of death being hanging. Police reported there were no suspicious circumstances.
It is likely both inquests will be concluded through the documentary process where the investigation into a death is conducted solely through written evidence, without witnesses giving oral testimony.
