A FORMER Thurrock woman is hoping her friends and family in the borough will back her in a bid to raise funds for the NSPCC.

Jo Rushman, born and bred in Grays, who now lives in Southend, is running the London Marathon on 26 April for the charity.

She says: "They are an essential charity who work solely to safeguard children. Their work helps children, families and professionals, providing services, advice and training at various levels. This specialist service needs continued funding to keep its work going.

"I don't usually ask for sponsorship when I take on something torturous but this time I think I need your help to raise my goal amount.

Please consider sponsoring me to run the 26.2 miles.

In return I promise not to come round to your house, after the event, with a slide show of photos, my sweaty running clothes, or to show you graphic pics of blisters and black toenails.

"Fair exchange I would say! Thank you lovelies."
