MEMBERS of Thurrock's Prince's Trust Group are helping make a community centre in Grays a brighter place.

The Seabrook Community House has become a focal point for much activity and since it opened in 2016 it has been home to many local organisations and groups.

On a Mondays it plays host to a community day starting with older person's lunch club where they get a homemade dinner and dessert for £5, followed by prize bingo. In the evening two youth groups meet, one starting at 4.30pm and running until 6.30pm for youngsters aged four to 11 years followed by one for 11 to 16 years.

Two dance groups use the building regularly with classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursday and Saturdays. A church group utilises the main hall on Wednesdays and Sundays, while Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions use the building on Friday for their arts and music classes.

All this activity has taken its toll on the building, which is in need of redecoration.

So the Prince's Trust will be turning up next week to paint the downstairs hall and offices as part of their community project.

Any they are raising the funds for materials themselves. They held a cake sale yesterday (Monday) and have a sponsored walk tomorrow. Fundraising is topped off by a car wash at Thurrock Adult College on Richmond Road, Grays, on Thursday (13 February) from 11am to 2pm.
