Knife was part of threat in latest crime incident in Stanford town centre

POLICE are investigating another leat night/early morning crime in the heart of Stanford-le-Hope.

There has been growing concern in the area about the level of incidents in the town, partiocularly in the area of the The Green and the Inn on the Green pub.

Recently police were alerted to an incident which involved residents getting assaulted - and in the early hours of Saturday (10 June) morning officers were once again called to investigate a robbery and they are asking for witnesses and information.

A statement says: "We were called shortly before 1.30am on Saturday, 10 June to reports of a robbery in The Green in which a man, 20s, was approached by three suspects who demanded he hand over his watch.

"The suspects were described as three black males wearing balaclavas and dark clothing including puffa coats. One was in possession of a knife.

"They were last seen heading along Wharf Road on foot. Thankfully, the victim was uninjured.

"The watch is described as having a black face and steel wrist strap.
